Teaching and Learning
Teachers’ professional learning is of great importance at Sancta Maria College – we are always seeking ways to improve and enhance the learning experiences for our learners.
This year we have introduced an extra meeting time for teachers on Tuesday mornings when teachers celebrate student work and share successful classroom strategies and digital resources to engage our students and improve learning outcomes.
This week’s session focused on te reo Māori in order to develop teacher capability in the area of Cultural Responsiveness.
Cultural Responsiveness has been a key focus of our teachers’ professional learning this year, and our staff are fortunate to be currently working with Caroline Taripo-Keith from the University of Auckland’s Tui Tuia / Learning Circle Pasifika Team.
We learned about the nine Pacific Values which tie so closely with our own core Values and Learning Values, and are very much looking forward to developing our capabilities in this important area of practice.
