Principal’s Message

Kia ora Kātoa,

Welcome to the first Newsletter of 2025.

It has been a great opening couple of weeks here at Sancta Maria College, and I hope your children feel positive about the year to come.

Our Opening Mass was held on Wednesday 12 February, led by Father Kevin Murphy, who encouraged us all to be a shining light of God’s love, whilst reminding everybody that we can impart positivity in every interaction we have with others.  Father Kev is a blessing to Sancta Maria College, and it was wonderful to have him lead our first Mass of the year.

As you know, Hope is our school’s focus Value for the year, and this ties perfectly with our Jubilee Year of Hope.

It was as ‘Pilgrims of Hope’ that our staff attended the Auckland Diocese Dedication Mass held at Christ the King church, Ōwairaka.  It was great for our teachers to connect with colleagues from across the diocese and renew the sense of purpose for all teachers in Catholic education – to spiritually nurture the wonderful young people in our care.

We had a very successful Athletics Day on Friday 21 February.  More details on house winners and photographs will be posted on our college Facebook page, where you can access lots of stories and news about the College.

Finally, another reminder to parents, please refer to my previous communication regarding pick up and drop offs at the College.  For safety reasons, there is no afternoon pick up at our Chapel Road entrance.  Please respect this decision which was made for one reason only – the safety of our students. Click this link to familiarise yourself with these procedures.

With blessings,
Ray Green.
