As we embark on a new academic year, I am filled with a sense of HOPE and optimism for the journey ahead. HOPE is a powerful value that guides us through challenges and inspires us to strive for a brighter future. It is with this spirit of HOPE that I extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to all our students, especially those who are joining us for the first time.
Starting a new school year can be a time of excitement, but it can also bring about feelings of anxiety and uncertainty, particularly for our new students. I want to assure you that you are not alone. Our Pastoral and Well-Being teams are here to support you every step of the way. We understand the importance of empathy and the need to create a nurturing environment where everyone feels valued and understood.
To our new students, we are thrilled to have you as part of our school family. Your presence enriches our community, and we are committed to helping you feel at home. Remember, it is okay to feel a bit anxious as you settle into your new surroundings. Reach out to your Kaihurungi, subject teachers, support staff and classmates whenever you need assistance or just a friendly chat. We are all here to help you succeed and thrive.
Our school offers a range of student support services designed to promote well-being and pastoral care. These include counselling services, a strong Whanau structure, peer support programs, and various extracurricular activities that foster a sense of belonging and community. I encourage you to take advantage of these resources and to actively participate in school life. Together, we can create a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone can flourish.
This was certainly fostered this week as we all joined together in SPIRIT Week, in our houses, to strengthen and unify our spirits ready for Athletics Day on Friday. Thank you to all of the Prefects who organised and managed the series of daily activities for the students…let’s see who the winning house is at the end of the week.
As we move forward, let us hold onto the value of HOPE. Let it be the light that guides us through any challenges we may face. With HOPE in our hearts and empathy in our actions, we can make this school year a truly remarkable one.
Warm regards,
Lawrence Naicker.
