Attendance Matters

ATTENDANCE: First four weeks – 2026

Attendance is a critical factor in supporting student success at school. The Ministry of Education has established clear expectations for minimum attendance, with a target of 90% attendance to be considered regular.

As indicated by the data above, only the Year 8 cohort has met this minimum threshold. This is a matter of concern for the school. While we acknowledge that there are a range of reasons why students may be absent, one of the most concerning trends is the increasing number of absences due to holidays taken during term time.

We strongly discourage caregivers from removing students from school during the term, as regular attendance plays a vital role in academic progress, continuity of learning, and student wellbeing.
