Jazz Camp
Our jazz music students came together for Jazz Camp last weekend – refining, perfecting and synchronising their playing as they prepare for the year ahead. Their first major event is the National Jazz Festival on 30 March in Tauranga. We wish them all the best for this and events to follow.
Max Tay-Morrison secures a distinguished position in the National Youth Jazz Competition’s Big Band
We would also like to congratulate Year 11 student, Max Tay-Morrison, who has been selected to play the trumpet in the National Youth Jazz Competition’s Big Band. Receiving over 90 registrations through to auditions from 35 secondary schools across Aotearoa, Max was successful in gaining his place in the Big band, who is scheduled to perform on Wednesday 1 April 2026 at 5pm, prior to the Prizegiving. In addition to their performance, Max is scheduled to attend two rehearsals in Tauranga on the Monday and Tuesday evenings prior to the performance. We wish Max all the best in his performance.
