Academic Update

Academic Honours Awards
Sancta Maria College’s Academic Prefects, Madison Isaia and Aaron Chan led this annual celebration of success on Tuesday 24 February. Over 67% of all Sancta Maria students gained an overall Merit or Excellence endorsement for NCEA in 2025. This is a superb achievement.

The Academic Honours Assembly celebrated the achievement of all these students, awarding academic badges to our current Year 12 and 13 students. A Silver Honours badge is for 50+ credits at Merit or Excellence level. A Gold Honours badge recognises 50+ credits at Excellence level and must include at least three external excellence results.

The Scholar Award is Sancta Maria’s premier award acknowledging Excellence Endorsement in 4+ subjects. This means that these students showed outstanding achievement in both internal and external assessment in the majority of their subjects.

  • Level 3 Scholars: Sofia Bryan; Greer Sullivan; Paolo Lecias; Ethan Choo; Summer Earl
  • Level 2 Scholars: Aaron Santos; Ella Clark; Maia Tay-Morrison; Madison Isaia; Jehaziel Meer; Jas Lopez; Kimberley Da Silva
  • Level 1 Scholars: Jethro Matanguihan; Chloe Ferrera; Precious Garcia; Ruiqi Jiang; Yulia Kwon; Matthew Ye.

Able and Ambitious programme
This is a programme of events and opportunities for our students, designed to extend and enhance their learning through additional, out of the classroom learning.  Below is a summary of our Able and Ambitious programme, however if you would like more detail on each event, please click this link.

Scholarship

Sancta Maria College students have told us that NCEA Scholarship studies are the best possible preparation for success at university.

The majority of subjects at Sancta Maria College offer Scholarship options at Year 13 and some at Year 12.  In late March we will be hosting an Academic Excellence Evening for parents and students to hear about our Scholarship and Able and Ambitious programmes (these are mentioned above). Information will be on the website, social media, and by invitation.

The tutorial schedule for Scholarship will be coming out in a fortnight and includes classes during study sessions, after school, and before school. If you would like further information, please contact Heads of Department or subject teachers.
