Art Round Up

Congratulations to Leitu Taulisi and Mikaela Lai for their winning Photographs!
Howick Youth Council’s Visual Arts Showcase was held during September at the Uxbridge Arts & Cultural Centre (Howick) where they attracted over 70 submissions from East Auckland Secondary Schools.  34 of these were from Sancta Maria College, and two of our students were winners.  Leitu was the winner of the Photography section and Mikaela was Runner Up.  Well done on your amazing achievement – and wonderful artwork!  You can see Mikaela’s winning photo above and Leitu’s photo below:

Pat Hanly Creativity Award winners

Congratulations to another two Sancta Maria Art students – Mikaela Lai and Kathleen Shi!  Year 13 students Mikaela Lai and Kathleen Shi were recipients of The Pat Hanly Creativity Awards for their outstanding creativity, imagination and commitment to the visual arts. They are both outstanding students of art and dedicated to their work. The awards ceremony was held at Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki and was a wonderful event.
Congratulations girls, – it was a wonderful effort and reward for your hard work!

Auckland Secondary Schools Art awards competition

Amelia Taylor has had her work accepted into this competition which opens on Wednesday, 5 October.
The Secondary School Art Awards recognise and celebrate emerging artistic talent in New Zealand. These are the young artists to look out for in the future. Artworks in the mediums of drawing, painting, printmaking, photography and sculpture make up the works on show.  The accomplished works by talented Year 11, 12 and 13 students from around New Zealand will be professionally hung in the Pah Homestead, The Wallace Arts Centre, 72 Hillsborough Rd, Auckland.  This is Amelia’s submitted art:
