Art Update

The Secondary School Art Awards were hosted at Pah Homestead on Thursday 11 September 2025 with an impressive 600 student submissions. Year 13 student, Aaron Diaz’s work was chosen for exhibition – an impressive feat since only 60 pieces of work were chosen from all submissions.
This is Aaron’s artist statement which accompanied his submission:

This piece is to exemplify the dominating presence of the JAS39 “Gripen” An aircraft i show great admiration for and the presence it has in the Swedish Armed Forces. The reason I admire this aircraft is the values it represents. It is always ready, always efficient, and always effective which I find inspirational despite it being a machine.
The medium I used for this piece is noticeably uncommon from traditional mediums. This is pixel art, my favorite digital medium. In the flames i showcase wing like patterns and floral like patterns to show its presence in the sky and air.

Congratulations Aaron – what a superb piece of artwork.

The exhibition continues through to 19 October if you would like to view Aaron’s and all the student’s work. Click this link for more detail.
