Attendance Matters – Supporting Our Students to Thrive
Regular attendance remains one of the strongest predictors of student success. Each day at school builds on the last, and even small gaps can quickly add up, making it harder for students to keep pace with their learning.
At present, 84% of our students are attending 90% of the time. Our Year 7 cohort is performing strongly, with 93% of students attending regularly—a fantastic foundation for future success.
We are concerned about attendance in Years 9 and 10, where attendance rates have fallen below our target of 80% of students attending at least 90% of the time. Attendance habits formed in these years play a crucial role in future success and engagement at school. This is not about students who are absent for legitimate reasons, but about those whose absences are considered unjustified under Ministry of Education guidelines.
Attendance is not simply about being present, it is about creating opportunities for learning, belonging, and growth. Thank you for your ongoing partnership and support. When families and schools work together, we can ensure every student has the opportunity to flourish and make the most of their education.
