Board of Trustees’ Message

Turf Court Update
The Turf Court project was completed and has proven to be a major asset to the College as an all-weather facility.  A further opportunity was taken to install Wi-Fi access points and a sound system along with security cameras to provide a state-of-the-art facility for our students and teaching staff.

The funding of this project came from the Proprietor’s Contribution that families pay each year for the ongoing development of the College.  On behalf of the Board, I wish to express a sincere thank you to all of our families for your valuable financial contributions to the College.

The Board appreciates that these contributions require sacrifices for many of our College families, particularly in a tough economic climate.  Your contributions, and those of other families before you, allow the College to continue to invest in providing exceptional educational facilities for our students.

Financial Contributions: 2024
At Sancta Maria College we strive to provide a high-quality Catholic education to our students together with a wide range of options and opportunities that fall outside the curriculum and add significantly to the college experience for our students.

The Board of Trustees sets a budget each year based on the funding received from both the Ministry of Education and locally raised funds which includes parent financial contributions.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all parents and caregivers who have committed to their financial contributions as part of accepting a place at Sancta Maria College for their child.  Without this funding, key teaching and learning resources and programmes would not have been available at the college. We are very grateful for your contributions and would greatly appreciate your continued support.

If you have not fully paid your financial contributions up to the end of this term yet, the Board would appreciate if you could make arrangements with the Accounts Team at the College to have this paid in full before the end of the school term.

If you are experiencing financial difficulties, please talk to the Accounts Team who will assist you with payment plans that suit you and your family’s individual needs.

The different components of the Parent Contributions are as follows:
Attendance Dues:  Collected on behalf of the Diocese to service loans for the capital costs of all Catholic Schools in Auckland:  non tax deductible

  • Special Character:  Collected on behalf of the Diocese to fund services to schools that are provided by the Catholic Education Services to ensure that the Catholic special character is maintained at the highest level: tax deductible
  • Capital Contributions:  This is the parents’ contribution sent to the Diocese to cover the on-going future development of Sancta Maria College.  For example, the recent revamping of the drama rooms and music recording studios: tax deductible
  • School Financial Contribution:  This covers a wide range of resources within the College including textbooks, sports and music equipment (recent grand piano) school magazine, ID cards, additional curriculum equipment and materials such as computers and electronic devices for students: tax deductible
  • Subject & Activity fees:  These relate to specific course and co-curricular activities (sports and music) that are outside the core compulsory curriculum.   We incur direct costs for external services and supplies which we must pass on to students who choose to participate in these activities.

Turf Court Surface Renewal
In September, the Turf Court was completely re-surfaced for use in Term 4, allowing students to use the court for an increased number of sporting activities.

School Uniform Shop
The Board encourages students and families to donate their used uniforms to the Uniform Shop so that the College can on sell these to other students.  This helps both the College, via funds raised from second-hand uniform sales, and other College families by providing a lower-cost uniform option.

The profit from these uniform donations will go towards purchasing sports equipment for the College.

To this end, we have an opportunity to win $500 for all those students who bring in their good quality, used uniform to the Uniform shop or Student Centre before 31 January 2025, you go in the draw to win a $500 Botany Town Centre voucher.  Click this link for more detail Help us to Help Others by donating your uniform | Sancta Maria College
