Thank you, Emilie Jean and Mrs Bracey for beautifying and rejuvenating our Butterfly Garden this term. With the support from Kings Plant Barn, the garden has now been weeding and replanted – it does look amazing. Thank you for your hard work.
Additionally, our Enviro group managed Laudato Si’ Week with a number of activities running alongside Navigation time.
There were the following activities:
- locating the storm water drains around the school and mapping them
- a competition to create a piece of educational art for storm water drainage (to be presented to the BOT)
- designing and developing a booklet to educate and earn house points on storm water drains
- a shared PowerPoint on recycling options for students to choose which one the school could provide as a community service
Students put in the mahi afterschool as well, with the following activities:
In only 1 hour, three Year 10 students, Amelie Chan, Tibbie Lin and Isabella Chen filled eight large rubbish bags of rubbish they collected behind Sancta Maria Catholic Primary in the native bush area that runs alongside Te Irirangi Drive. What a fantastic effort – thank you Amelie, Tibbie and Isabella!
Behind St Lukes Parish, four students, Emile Jean Abuyan, Chloe Dangatan, Jayden Borromeo and Liam Donnellan armed with pruning saws, tackled the invasive pest plant ‘Woolly Nightshade’ successfully removing them. Thank you, team.
