International News

Kia ora koutou and warm greetings,

As we come to the end of Term 3, I would like to reflect on what has been another vibrant and busy term for our International Department. We have had the pleasure of welcoming many new international students into our school whānau, each bringing with them unique experiences, perspectives, and enthusiasm that enrich our community. Alongside this, we have also hosted several visiting school groups, which has made our term both busy and rewarding.

This term is typically a busy one, as students prepare for derived exams and there is an urgency to complete internal assessments. Surrounding our academic programme, there has also been a wealth of school activities and achievements that you can see highlighted in this newsletter.

Update on International Programme
From next year, we will no longer host very short study tours. Instead, any short-term students will need to enrol for at least one full term (10 weeks). This shift will reduce classroom disruption, provide greater continuity in teaching, and allow us to place more energy into supporting our long-term students. It also means the short-term students we do welcome will gain more meaningful learning and integration into school life—making the experience better for both them and us.

I would like to sincerely thank our staff, students, and homestay families for their continued support in creating such a warm, inclusive and welcoming environment. It is through this spirit of manaakitanga that our international students truly feel at home and thrive here.

We also wish all our departing students well on their travels home and thank you for your contributions to school life while you were here.

I wish everyone a safe and restful holiday break, and for those preparing for the final term exams, all the very best as you head into this important part of the school year.

Ngā mihi nui,
Kendall Watson-Peach
Director of International Students.
