International News

The students had a Pink Shirt Day celebration on 19 May which saw them dress in something pink and enjoy a small morning tea in the International Department – all in support for anti-bullying.  They also shared in our Special Character week with the school, enjoying the pōwhiri, waiata, music performances, Feast Day mass and Talent Quest.

Late last week a group of the international students headed to the far north of New Zealand – for a three-day cultural visit exploring some of our fascinating scenic spots and some locations of most historical importance to Aotearoa.  Thank you to the international staff who organised and managed this event for the students.

We would also like to welcome a returning international student to our school, who joined us last week from Thailand.  Napatsanun (Prim) Leelasiriwanich visited our school in 2019 for one month and thoroughly enjoyed her time here, so much so she was eager to return, particularly with her original host family she had back in 2019.  She is in Year 11 and planning a 1-year stay.  If you see Prim around school, please make her very welcome.

Hosting international students – we are looking for short term host families for term 3 – we are searching for families that would like a paid opportunity to host a visiting student for 2 or 4 weeks from 16 July 2023.  The students are coming from China and are mixed ages, from Year 9 onwards.  Please contact c.scott@sanctamaria.school.nz if you would like to host an international student or click this link for more information.
