Junior School Update

Term 4 has been an incredibly busy time for Years 7-10! A highlight for most students has been our EOTC week. Education Outside the Classroom enriches students’ classroom learning experiences and helps to build confidence through the development of self-esteem. Students also develop their social skills by co-operating within small groups with their peers. Many students’ fondest memories of their time at school will be the positive ones they take away from their EOTC experiences.

Our Year 7s enjoyed trips to Ambury Park, Māngere Mountain, the Maritime Museum and a wonderful house competition day held at school led by our 2024 prefects.

The Year 8 students had a fantastic time on camp in Hunua at YMCA Camp Adair. It was wonderful to see students grow in confidence to participate in activities that pushed them out of their comfort zone. The activities they enjoyed also had students show resilience when facing challenges!

Year 9 students undertook a range of experiences with trips to St Patrick’s Cathedral, Weta Workshop, Duder Regional Park, Auckland Zoo and to the movies! Many of these EOTC experiences had a direct link to the integrated learning unit that students undertook in Term 2 of this year and helped with making connections in our local community and broaden perspectives.

Our Year 10 students spent their EOTC week at Ngāruawāhia Christian Youth Camp. The theme of their camp was ‘be not afraid’. The time away at camp saw them develop a greater sense of year level community by participating with enthusiasm in every aspect of the camp.

We thank you for supporting your child to take part in the amazing experiences that were available to them, and I’d like to acknowledge the time and effort of our teaching staff who made these opportunities possible for our learners.

We have ended our year celebrating student achievement through our Junior School Prizegiving and Years 7-10 Recognition Celebration. It was wonderful to be able to recognise the achievements and talents of our junior students. Congratulations to all our award winners and their whānau.  Please click the following links to find out who our award winners were:
