Term 4 is an incredibly busy and exciting term in the Junior School. We are looking forward to an exciting EOTC Week being held in week 7 (25 – 29 November).
Year 7 – EOTC Week, various activities
Year 8 – YMCA Camp Adair, Hunua
Year 9 – EOTC Week, various activities
Year 10 – Ngāruawāhia Christian Camp
Parents and students will have received appropriate information and permissions in regard to the above events. These Education Outside of the Classroom (EOTC) experiences are important because they provide students with hands-on learning experiences that can enhance their learning and engagement:
- Real-world learning: EOTC provides students with opportunities to apply what they learn in the classroom to the real world.
- Skill development: EOTC can help students develop skills like confidence, leadership, resilience, self-awareness, empathy, and self-esteem.
- Interpersonal skills: EOTC can help students develop interpersonal skills and relationships with their teachers and peers.
- Values and attitudes: EOTC can help students develop values and attitudes that are essential for responsible citizenship and lifelong learning.
- Student engagement: EOTC can help students connect with their learning topic and environments.
- Curiosity and inquiry: EOTC can stimulate curiosity and deeper thinking.
- Comprehension and retention: EOTC can enhance understanding and retention of knowledge.
A huge thank you must go to the teachers who have put countless hours into the organisation of these opportunities and the staff who give up the comforts of home and time with loved ones to go on camp with our students.
End of Year Assessment and Celebrations of Achievement
Students are currently completing end of year assessments and testing: all assessment work that is counted towards end of year awards will be completed by Friday 15 November. Please talk to your children about their learning and achievement.
As we head into the end of year there will be formal recognition of students’ diligence and achievement through our Year 7-10 Recognition Ceremony and Junior Prizegiving.
Prizegivings play a vital role in celebrating and acknowledging the hard work and achievements of learners. While it’s important to recognise the effort and progress of all students, these events provide an opportunity to highlight outstanding accomplishments, motivate continued excellence, and inspire others to strive for success.
Parents of prizewinners will be contacted prior to the event. These are the dates for our prizegiving ceremonies:
Junior Prizegiving – Monday 9 December, 9am in the Auditorium
Year 7-10 Recognition Ceremony – Tuesday 10 December, 9am in the Auditorium
