Music Matters

Fresh from the engravers, members of our Big Band proudly show off the Jazz Improvisation Award that they earned at this year’s KBB Festival. It is the second time that our school has brought this award home, and it keeps us in exalted company along with previous winners such as Auckland Grammar School and Saint Kentigern’s College.

From left to right, drummer Samuel Hong, bassist Ryan Ebron, pianist Paolo Leicas and guitarist Madison Isaiah are pictured in our school reception, where the trophy will proudly sit in our trophy cabinet until August of 2025.

Singers Shine at Star of the Sea

Both of our choirs were invited to perform at last Friday’s Market Night at Our Lady Star of the Sea Primary School. The Festival Choir and Senior Choir combined for the opening number, Cantar by Jay Althouse, then the junior Festival Choir sang How Far I’ll Go from Moana.

There were a couple of solo spots which featured Sweeney Cahilig, Gianna Cordiero and Ariane Cordiero, then the senior Choir finished proceedings with Found/Tonight by Lin Manuel Miranda.

As we head into the festive season, our choir are scheduled to spread more cheer to our community at the following events:

  • Friday, 15 November – Stockade Hill – Festival Choir perform at around 6pm (exact time tbc)
  • Wednesday, 20 November – Tōtara Hospice Pakuranga Megastore, 42a Ben Lomond Crescent, Pakuranga between 5.00 – 7.00pm (exact time tbc)
