Congratulations to all our students involved in the recent Twilight Cultural Festival. The festival was a wonderful display of the cultures that are represented in our school community. From students wearing their traditional cultural attire, to music groups preforming, to cultural performance groups show casing their talents, it was all a great reflection of our cultural richness.
Thank you to the parent organising committee who helped with the logistics of the evening and a big thank you to the parents and supporters who tutored many groups in their performances and cultural practices. Also, a special thank you to Mrs Kevern for all of her work behind the scenes in liaising with groups and putting the day together.
2027 will see the Twilight Festival return to its outdoor setting – we are planning on hosting the event at the end of Term 1 next year. Click this link to view all the photos
Our jazz musicians recently performed in the Auckland Secondary Schools Jazz competition. Our Big Band and jazz ensembles were excellent in their heats, and we look forward to hearing if they have progressed to the finals stage. Well done to our talented musicians.
The 2027 musical production is in the planning stages, and a fund-raising quiz night is coming up on 22 August. This will be a fun evening, so get your teams organised!
Two former students have been achieving highly in their chosen sports lately. 2023 Alumni, Olivia Selemaia, has competed in weightlifting at the 2026 Glasglow Commonwealth Games this week. This is a remarkable effort to reach this standard of performance. And, 2015 Sancta Maria College Alumni, Tysha Ikenasio consistently plays for the Warriors in the NRLW Telstra Women’s Premiership. She debuted for the Warriors women’s team in July 2025 after an incredible sporting and learning journey with the NRLW rookie campaign for the Warriors. Congratulations to these past pupils.
Attendance continues to be a priority for us this term. Students know the importance of being in class every day, prepared, and on time. External examinations are fast approaching and the importance of this term for learning, retaining knowledge, and showing understanding in assessments is paramount. Pressure on students can increase at this time of year; we remind our students to try their best, organise their time, plan their assessment calendar and most importantly stay communicating with their teachers – who can guide and advise them in the lead up to examinations. Feedback is important to hear from our community. Next week a survey will be sent to parents asking for input to Sancta Maria College’s strategic plan for the coming three years. This is your opportunity to tell us what you would like to see reflected in our school. A link to the survey will be sent directly to parent emails.
Finally, a reminder that we are celebrating Father’s Day Mass at 1.30pm on Wednesday 2 September, and then Grandparents Day Mass on Wednesday 23 September, in the last week of term. Please come and join your children / grandchildren for these lunchtime Masses.
Additionally, in week 7 there is a Staff only day on Thursday 3 September 2026.
