Special Character Message

Living Rosary
In an act of solidarity, the student youth ministry team prayed the living rosary on Wednesday (11 October) for peace between Israel and Gaza, Ukraine and Russia, healing of those who are sick (in school or outside school), peace in our homes and in our hearts and for all the intentions that each member of the school has. Led by Mr. Tamayo and Mr. Piggin, each student had a chance to read out either an Our Father, Hail Mary or Glory Be as part of the rosary. It was a great chance for the students to pray for peace as a school community and do our part to help the people on the other side of the world.

Thanksgiving Mass
Fr. Sherwin presided over the thanksgiving mass for the school.  The mass was also attended by parents and grandparents of the Year 13s.  To give way for these guests, the mass was live streamed for the Year 9s and 8s.  The Year 9s gathered in F block while the Year 8s watched in their homeroom classes.

Young Vinnies
Antoinetta Whiteford (Tagged Teacher) has been bringing the students to St. Vincent de Paul in Otahuhu every Thursday for the poor and needy.  The staff from Vinnies, after cooking, processes what they have done for students to understand why we are doing these things.

Tōtara Hospice Outreach Project

This year, a group of students and staff at Sancta Maria College collected and painted yoghurt pots throughout the year to make seedling starter kits for 200 volunteers working for the Tōtara Hospice in Manurewa. Students used their creative skills to decorate the seedling pots to share love, laughter or a simple smile to very special people. The kits have been inspired by the increasing awareness of Kaitiakitanga at our school. Each kit contains a pair of garden gloves, a small hand shovel, a seed and a peat disc to allow the recipient to grow their very special plant this summer and at the same time to validate the work they do.
