Special Character Message

As we come to the end of another school term, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our students, staff, and families for the many ways they have contributed to the life of our school community.

Throughout this term, we have been reminded that faith is not simply something we learn about; it is something we live. In our classrooms, liturgies, service opportunities, and daily interactions, we have been called to reflect the love of Christ to one another. Faith gives us purpose, direction, and hope, especially during times of challenge and uncertainty.

As Catholics, we believe that God walks with us in every season of life. Whether this term has been filled with success, struggle, growth, or change, we can be confident that God has been present in each moment. The words of St. Paul remind us: “We walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7). Faith encourages us to trust in God’s plan even when we cannot see the whole path ahead.

As we enter the holiday break, I encourage everyone to take time to rest, reconnect with family and friends, and continue to nurture their relationship with God through prayer, reflection, mass and participation in the life of the Church. May this break be an opportunity to renew both body and spirit.

Thank you for your commitment to our Catholic mission and for helping to make our school a place where faith, learning, and community flourish together.  May God bless you and your families, keep you safe during the holidays, and fill your hearts with His peace and joy.

CSYMI
Born from a willing to know more, other Catholic schools in our community, have expressed their interest in understanding how we have integrated CSYMI into college life.  Some of our CSYMI ex and current students were invited to a meeting with Principals, the
DRS and Bishop Steve to talk about what CSYMI is and how it is making an impact in their lives.  Other colleges are keen to implement the CSYMI scheme into their college and found the meeting beneficial and inspiring.  Cedric also talked about how the programme is integrated with our RE Curriculum. Thank you to the students who gave their time.

In addition, our CSYMI leaders have launched Alpha Youth! Alpha Youth is a series of open and honest workshops within a space created for young people.  Their first session was “Welcome to the Conversation”, introducing the course and creating a space where young people can ask questions, share their thoughts, and explore faith together. It was exciting to finally begin this journey after months of planning.

World Youth Day 2027
Bishop Steve led the launch of World Youth Day 2027 at Holy Family Catholic Church (Korean Catholic Church – Flat Bush) on Sunday 7 June.  The theme is “Take courage! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33) – please contact Mr. Tamayo for more information.

Pizza and Praise
Some of senior students enjoyed connecting and engaging with our Catholic college students on Wednesday 24 June – thank you again to our DRS and RE HoD who continue to facilitate these events for our students.

Yours in Christ through Mary,

Mr. Omar Leo Tamayo
Leader of Special Character Mission and Liturgy (DRS)
