As a Catholic school community, we are called to treat everyone with dignity, kindness and love — especially those who may be different from us, those who have made mistakes, or those we may find difficult to understand.
Jesus reached out to Gentiles, tax collectors and sinners. He did not define people by their mistakes or differences; He saw their dignity and invited them into relationship. When someone hurts us, Jesus reminds us to seek conversation, reconciliation and understanding rather than anger, exclusion or judgement.
“If he listens to you, you have won over your brother.” — Matthew 18:15
Our mission is not simply to speak about God’s love, but to show it. God is love, and every interaction we have is an opportunity to make that love visible.
So, let us ask ourselves: Am I treating this person in the way Jesus would? Am I bringing them closer to God’s love through the way I speak and act?
May our school be a community where everyone feels welcomed, respected, forgiven and loved — because we are called to proclaim God, who is love, to all.
Youth Gathering – Human Dignity (20 September 2026)
Some Year 11s and 12s attended a whole day Catholic Youth workshop ‘EMBRACING HUMAN DIGNITY’ held on 20 September at St. Ignatius of Loyola College. Fr. Shenan Boquet, the special guest speaker from the US, talked about masculinity and femininity through the lens of our faith. He focused on honest questions about identity, purpose and what it means to live as the people of God.
Young Vinnies Regional Gathering
We were joined by students from De La Salle College, St Ignatius College, and McAuley High School on Monday evening as our Young Vinnies came together at school for an evening of celebration, prayer, sharing food, planning, performing, and building community connections.
The students also gave thanks to the staff who shared their time with them this year, accompanying them to their many events – Omar Tamayo, Cedric Piggin, Yasmine Fernandes, Callum MacLeod and Amara Kevern.
The Young Vinnies Leaders of Sancta Maria College will also be given special recognition at the Cathedral of St. Patrick and St. Joseph on Saturday (26 Sept 2026) for their leadership this year.
Grandparents Day Mass
Together with Grandparents and whānau, we celebrated the unconditional love, kindness and guidance of our wonderful Grandparents in our Wednesday Mass at St Luke’s Parish earlier in the week. Thank you for all the families that joined us for a wonderful student-led Mass.
Yours in Christ through Mary,
Mr. Omar Leo Tamayo
Leader of Special Character Mission and Liturgy (DRS)
