North Island Schools Mountain Bike Champs
During the weekend of 21st-23rd March our very own Cooper brothers competed in the North Island School Mountain Bike Champs. The event, which was held in Hunua Ranges Regional Park, had a huge presence from many secondary colleges including St Peters College, Auckland Grammar, Sacred Heart College and many more.
Bikers ride cross country to compete within their age groups. According to Cycling New Zealand the course was a combination of ‘gravelly and flat racing with some slippery corners which proved a different challenge for most’.
Congratulations to each of the Cooper brothers for their amazing individual results!
Jason Cooper was 1st (under 14s)
Lucas Cooper was 9th (under 16s)
Reuben Cooper was 9th (under 20s)
Once the individual races were completed, Jason, Lucas and Reuben then went on to race in the Under 20 relay. Their relay team came 9th (out of 36 teams) and were 2nd in Auckland behind St Peters College.
An amazing result! Well done Jason, Lucas and Reuben!
