Senior Examinations
Senior students recently completed their Derived Grade Examinations. This was the first full set of examinations many of our students have sat in recent years, and it was an excellent learning experience. Most students sat at least one digital examination, providing them with experience using the NZQA Digital Examination platform.
For the first time, NCEA Scholarship students from Years 12 and 13 sat practice examinations. Although it meant an extra week of examinations for our top scholars, the students have been positive in their feedback about the opportunity.
By the end of the term, students will have received their marked papers and results will be available on the SMC Portal. Please take some time to discuss how your child’s examination went and what their next steps are, in terms of revision, to build on this result. With an effective revision plan, many students see improvement in their results in the external examinations.
If your child has a Not Achieved (NA) result, or you are concerned about their level of achievement, please contact their teacher/s and ensure they attend a subject tutorial. The tutorial schedule is below:
Senior Academic Prizegiving and Recognition Assemblies
Senior Academic Prizegiving for Years 11, 12, and 13 will be held on the 1 November at 7pm. All Year 12 and Year 13 students are expected to attend and will be seated in homerooms. For Year 11, attendance is only compulsory for prize winners. All parents are invited to attend this celebration of our top achievers.
Recognition Assemblies will celebrate the achievements of many of our students. Parents are welcome to attend these assemblies, which will take place in the School Auditorium at 8.40am on the dates below:
- Year 13 – 26 October 2022
- Year 12 – 27 October 2022
- Year 11 – 31 October 2022
Year 13 Leavers’ Dinner
In 2022, the Leavers’ Dinner will be held at the Ellerslie Racecourse on 1 December. A letter has gone home about this event and tickets are available via the Cashier.
