Kia ora koutou to our Students, Parents, Agents and Caregivers,
As we come to the end of another successful academic year, I am delighted to celebrate the achievements of our international students and the commitment they have shown both in their studies and in the wider life of our college. Those who have balanced academic focus with involvement in co-curricular activities have truly excelled, and I am incredibly proud of their efforts.
This year, we have had the privilege of welcoming an inspiring group of over 180 learners from around the world. Whether they joined us for a short experience or worked toward completing their senior schooling here in New Zealand, each has contributed to a vibrant and diverse international community. At Sancta Maria College, we pride ourselves on offering a personalised, boutique experience where every learner feels supported and known.
A particular highlight this year has been the success of our Year 13 graduates — all of whom have gained University Entrance. This is a wonderful milestone and a reflection of their hard work and perseverance.
I would also like to thank and acknowledge our 2026 International Prefects and I am also thrilled to congratulate them on their exceptional accomplishments:
- Nate Pak Yui — heading to Cardiff University to study Law.
- Eve Yhacint Salvador — recipient of the highly-esteemed University of Auckland International Student Scholarship, who will study Accounting in a Bachelor of Commerce.
Their leadership and dedication have greatly enriched our international programme, and I wish them every success in the exciting journeys ahead.
I would also like to take a moment to acknowledge the College staff who contribute so much to the care and wellbeing of our students. I warmly wish Mrs. Aimee Wang, one of our Homestay Coordinators, all the very best as she is currently on parental leave. I am deeply grateful to Acting Principal Mr. Ray Green for his unswerving support of the International Department throughout this year — his guidance and encouragement have made a significant difference.
Even with the intensity of NCEA exams, Term 4 has been filled with opportunities to come together, celebrate achievements, and strengthen friendships. Our International Christmas celebration, held on the last day of exams, was a joyful highlight for our students and staff alike.
We now look forward with great anticipation to 2026, where we will welcome many new international learners and be guided by our new Principal, Mr. Andrew Mackenzie. And as always, we will continue showcasing the inclusive, caring, and family-focused culture that makes Sancta Maria College such a special place to learn and grow.
I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to our parents, caregivers, homestay families, agents, and — most importantly — our wonderful students. Your support, generosity, and trust are truly appreciated.
Wishing you and your whānau a blessed Christmas and a joyful New Year.
Meri Kirihimete.
Ngā mihi nui,
Ms Kendall Watson-Peach
Director of International Students
