Junior School Update

Learning Progress and Reports
It’s been another fantastic term of learning in the junior school! Please take the time to discuss the highlights with your children.  Please also ask them about their progress towards the goals they set at the beginning of the term.

To help inform discussions about learning and progress, interim reports will be available on the student portal from today. You will have the opportunity to meet with your child’s teachers in Week 1 of Term 2. As a college we really value the home school partnership so look forward to meeting with parents, caregivers and whānau when we return from the break.

New Zealand Curriculum Refresh
The New Zealand Curriculum is currently undergoing a refresh so that schools and communities are better supported to do what they do best: create rich and responsive learning that helps every ākonga realise their goals and aspirations.

The refreshed New Zealand Curriculum will provide a stronger focus on inclusive practice that gives effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi values and builds on the strengths ākonga bring to literacy and numeracy in learning across the curriculum, and supports learners to better access its richness.

At Sancta Maria College our staff have been committed to undertaking professional development and keeping up with the changes to ensure that we are planning authentic, rich, responsive learning opportunities for students. We are looking forward to launching new and exciting learning contexts in Term 2 and cannot wait to share the learning outcomes with whānau.
