Sancta Maria College’s PE camp was held during the first week in Term 3. PE Studies students along with staff members Mrs Homes, Mrs Heffernan and Mr Bali headed to Raurimu for five nights. The group stayed at the Blue Mountains Adventure Centre.
Equipped with gear for many adventures, the team’s objectives were to develop risk analysis skills and prepare for, participate in and evaluate each outdoor experience as the member of a group. Over the course of the camp the group were involved in many activities including:
- Caving
- White water rafting down the Tongariro
- Mountaineering up Ruapehu
- Skiing and snowboarding
- Hot pools
In addition to their outdoor pursuits the group of students were also responsible for cooking and cleaning throughout the week.
The group also paid their respects to the Elim College Memorial site at Outdoor Pursuits Centre.
We would like to thank the Blue Mountain Adventure Centre and for our staff team for making this camp possible. Many students commented it was the best week of their year and made memories that will last a lifetime!
