Peace Symposium

Making Peace on Earth

Recently a team of students from our Peer Support programme attended the annual Peace Symposium at Western Springs Community Hall.
This is a gathering of students whose schools have programmes that are dedicated to working with fellow students to manage conflict better, and help each other through school. Schools call this the Cool Schools Programme, or Peer Mediation for Conflict Resolution.  The programme is managed and taught by the Peace Foundation throughout New Zealand and the skills learned by the students provide great training and skills for clear thinking, problem-solving, and working with others. The skills are the same as those taught and used by international peace-keepers.
