As we begin this new school year, we place ourselves in the presence of God and ground our community in aroha — love that reflects the very heart of Christ. In the Gospel, Jesus reminds us: “Love one another as I have loved you” (John 13:34). This is the love we are called to live each day — a love that is patient, merciful, and self-giving.
Aroha, as love in action, calls us to see Christ in one another: in our classrooms, playgrounds, staffrooms, and in our homes. It invites us to forgive when it is hard, to serve without seeking recognition, and to walk alongside those who may feel lost or unseen. Through aroha, we become a community where faith is not only taught but lived.
As a Catholic school, we begin this year trusting in God’s guidance, placing our hopes, challenges, and efforts in His hands. May the Holy Spirit lead our learning and relationships, and may Mary, our Mother, watch over our school community. Together, let us commit to building a year shaped by faith, hope, and love — where aroha is visible in all that we do.
We ask God’s blessing upon our students, staff, and families as we journey together this year.
